The 1001-Up.com team have played a number of horror games recently. When we were invited by Kevin of The Mental Attic to play some Left 4 Dead 2 together, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to butcher some zombies with him.
As most will already know, Left 4 Dead 2 is an online co-operative zombie-survival game where players take on the role as one of four survivors trying to shoot their way to safety. The undead are controlled by an AI director that decides when to throw a horde at you and as well as some special zombies with unique abilities. These can be lethal if they manage to get their hands on a lone survivor away from the pack, so it’s important to use teamwork and stick together.
Craig took the controls first as we played the Dead Center campaign that sees the survivors attempt to flee Savannah, Georgia. It all went quite well at first; we made it as far as attempting to fill a race car with enough fuel to escape but sucummed to what appeared to be a constant wave of tanks – a special zombie that takes a lot of bullets to put down. Unfortunately it all became too much and soon it was game over, but not before Phil had a go at hitting Kevin with a melee attack, much to the amusement of Kim.
